Art Galleries, Museums & Theatres

Admire heritage architecture and historic sites around Victoria.  Explore the Art Galleries, unique West Coast artwork, and the Royal BC Museum.
The “Victorian” at heart will want to visit Craigdarroch Castle or enjoy Afternoon Tea at one of the city´s quaint tearooms.  You can attend the theatre, the symphony, or the opera.  Our world-class little city always has something unique to offer, like Symphony Splash, where the Victoria Symphony Orchestra presents a free evening for spectators from aboard a barge in the harbour.

The Royal BC Museum features themes on a grand scale.  From giant robotic insects to rare Egyptian artifacts displays, keep your eye on this well-run organization.  Don´t miss Jazzfest, which livens up the Inner Harbour and has even the meekest of visitors moving to the beat.

Just south of Sidney in Saanich is Heritage Acres, home of the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society.  The first thing you see is a large field, brilliant with yellow mustard in spring and dotted with old-fashioned stalks of golden oats in late summer.  Behind a line of trees, you can visit a blacksmith shop, sawmill, woodwork shop, planer mill, old school, church, and mechanical shop.  There are lots of hands-on exhibits to entertain children from 2 to 92 and, best of all, a model steam train to ride!

The Sooke Regional Museum traces the area´s history from the aboriginal tribes, through early settlers and up to more modern times. View the shipwreck display or tour a pioneer family cottage, but don´t forget the gift shop and art gallery while you´re there.

When you drive through picturesque Metchosin farmland, be sure stop by local artisans like ´Chosin Pottery. Our unique Island has one of the largest artist populations in North America.

Whichever of our quality B&B´s you choose, you can count on your hosts to impart their local cultural knowledge.
